The train carries hundreds,
Yet none will acknowledge
The mother hushing her child
For the quiet expected,
Or the boy sobbing
Muffled tears in his shirt.
No one tells the old man
His bag’s still on the seat,
Or wakes up the girl
From oblivious sleep.
How much would it cost?
Just one note of kindness
Makes limitless difference.
Yet the train travels on,
Not a smile in sight.
