Excellence Award in the 'Play On Words 2021' competition
I'm like a moth before the flame,
A solivagant in the dark,
Will I ever find my purpose?
Will my arrow hit its mark?
I've been pulled hook, line and sinker,
Into places never seen,
The vast, empty and lonely,
All the spaces in between,
An avatar of no importance,
Marionette with strings pulled tight,
But before this doll starts dancing,
You'd best turn out the light.
Consider this a warning,
Though it won't do any good,
Because monsters can feign innocence,
Villains misunderstood.
