She was bright and her eyes were ablaze with exuberance
Full of life and wanted to touch the sky
So much potential all held back
Simply because she was a prisoner, held in shackles, where she had to obey
The words “what will people say”
She didn’t dare to try and break free
That was considered a misdeed
You can do as you please, they would say,
As long as it is in the way that we accede
They made her believe
Morality was what they perceived
All that desire locked away
Because she was just another girl full of dreams
