Cages.

I spent too long
punishing you
for something you didn’t do.
I laughed
watching your lips split
like the plastic from a balloon.
I smiled
watching your eyes sink
in gushing floods of tears.
But through my blurred hazes
my anger and burning rages
I realised
that maybe our hearts
are the only monsters.
Thats why our ribs are called cages.
