The Faithful Umbrella

Here or over there it’s always somewhere
Watching the undying rainfall from the dull, grey sky
Chained up brutally by its heartless masters
With no hope of escape

Its solemn duty, to protect us from evil forces
Yet we give nothing in return
Without it we would be drenched and turning up at interviews
Like we had been at a water park, or dancing with a hose

Can we even spare a bit of love
Or compassion
We give nothing to this miraculous protector
A hero of sorts

You might think it’s purposeless but it's more than a
Helpless
Useless
Thing
