A Day As A Lifeguard

I feel the hot sand on the souls of my feet, as I walk up the creaky, weather worn stairs, catching sight of my fellow life saver friends. I head over to the balcony and grab my binoculars, observing the crowds flocking to the fresh cold water. Suddenly I catch sight of a helpless lone kid, struggling to stay above, raising their hand high above the water’s dangerous surface. The second I see the child's hand begging for help, I grab my board and rush down the steps three at a time, dashing to the ice-cold water, with only one thought in my mind. As I paddle with all my might, I finally reach the child, desperately wrenching them up until I catch sight of their pale petrified face. I let out a sigh of relief… I’d saved them.
