Sadness overwhelms me
Anger fulfills me
Hope has left me
Pain is with me.

Empty promises
A little lie
And I think
“Can you just tell me why?”

Distress has joined me
Confusion overcomes me
The past haunts me
The present taunts me

Every word she breathes
Every whisper that touches her lips
Lashes out at me like whips
And all I can say is “Why?”
