The massive ship I climbed aboard,
The great German cliffs I headed toward.
My friend and I were off to war,
Peace to the world we had to restore.
Finally we arrived guns ablazing,
I stood still, up at the cliffs I was gazing.
Men tumbling down, best friends missing,
With blood and bullets the water was hissing.
In shock I searched for my friend,
Maybe for him this was the end.
In that moment my world did shrink,
In that moment my heart did sink.
There behind me was my friend,
He wasn’t dead this wasn’t the end.
Physically we did survive the war;
Yet no one can see the wounds we bore.
