Murmurs of the Night
The ticks of the clocks can be heard strongly
As the minute hands go round,
The walls breathe a ghastly air
Which creaks through the paintwork,
Shadows crawl along floors
As the moonlight seeps through curtains.
The house huffs and puffs
In unison with nearby freight trains,
Street lights have finally lit
Standing upright like soldiers in rows.
All the monsters come out to play,
As the humans rest in their beds
Dreaming their way through the night.
Soon the sun will rise,
Warning the night life to go to bed
As it awaits another playful night.
