Excellence Award in the 'National Treasures 2022' competition
The stiffness of Blazer formality proclaims the new season
Summer- free feet encased in leather school shoes
Mothballed coats emerge from hibernation,
As autumn approaches.
A paintbox of red, yellow, and brown, splashed across the trees.
Leaves dancing and twirling, toppling over each other,
Fluttering down into Piles of crisp crinkles
Where every step awakens a witches cackle.
The smell of hot chocolate,
Slithering past icy noses,
Enticing eager footsteps to the cafe.
To gulp sweet summer warmth in polystyrene cups.
Mischievous kids jump from one puddle to another
As Rain Boots splash mud fountains
Students, in a grey haze, marvel at
A field of umbrellas blooming.
