You are the city of Venice, personified,
so beautiful yet silently drowning
you metamorphosise
into metaphors,
morphing hope into my eyes
and I can only hope,
with what hope you have given me
that with history behind your eyes
despite the storm below your waters
and chaos in the clouds,
I hope, that you will be reminded
of the strength in your roots
that my love is in your veins
remember how history is important
but you, are the city landmark
that will forever remain in our hearts
