Never did they have the chance to remember
the sweet taste of honey or the joy of Christmas in December
The factories overcrowded
And terrible conditions shrouded
Devoured by the black smoke
Of their pain, they once spoke
A mother wanting to embrace her daughter
And a four year old boy led to the slaughter
They are the next generation
They are the heart of imagination
They are everything that we need
They are who we should be trying to set free
Never have they seen Springs blossoms bloom
Or the warm, radiant rays of the evening sun
Each day and each night strangled in the gloom
Their lives stolen before they have even begun.
