Gallippolli

It was the night I was to meet my fate
On the battlefields of Gallipolli they fell in numbers too many to count
Men falling all around me
The explosions of the Turks gunshots deafened me
Blinded by their shots whizzing past my head
I didn’t know where to look, who to shoot or where to go
Suddenly someone tapped me on the shoulder
I didn’t know who it was
I turned around, drew my gun
But when I was about to shoot
This strange man with wings of gold said something in another language
I didn’t know what he said
No time! I was dead
