Rosy-cheeked newborns
Stippled in amber birthmarks
And bathed in a starlet’s sheen...

Carefully lain to rest
In a downy cradle.

In an oaken cot,
The freakish ones:

Blanch skinned,
Port-wine stained,
Conjoined at the hip,

Freshly picked or
Freshly scrapped
From my aunt’s
Strawberry farm.
