you flew under immense pressure.
Flak rounds bursting and rumbling all around you
Rocking the Lancaster you flew like a crib with shrapnel hitting you
Knowing this may be your last mission, your final flight
Washing the blood stains from the turrets
where your very crew used to sit
Their faces will haunt you forever
The only thing protecting you from the luftwaffe
Washed away with a hose like watering your plants.
Bombing the very country that had taken your fellow comrades
With a fiery rage that everyone of the crewmembers experienced
You swore to never speak of the horrors you saw again
Until it was your time, your time to go, you let one story go
And you shall be heard for generations to come
Thank you for your service your story shall live on you war hero.
