My skull echoes hollow, naked of thought as the enigma of wit alludes me,
galaxies of synapses flicker out; a vast ocean of potential drained thin,
beyond my page, that dry well overflows with skeletal forests and thrashing skies,
battles on bloodlands booming with bomb’s shells,
and generations of purpose and pride.
My skull echoes hollow, naked of thought; a black hole of memories borne fruitless,
I scavenge my past for something worth script,
but mere dust and disappointment are found.
Perhaps it is language that fails me so,
melodies immaterial on tongue or is it the pen, ill-fit for my hand?
unable to pierce paper with poem,
my skull echoes hollow, naked of thought
and the twin hands of time have betrayed me,
skin crawling from bone, eyes drooping in flesh,
the stain of my failure will outlive me.
