Do you remember how the world used to be so colourful,
How the sky was limitless, dappled with fairy floss?
Do you remember the sunlight, etched in our eyes,
How it kissed our scarless skin?
Do you remember how we could be whatever we wanted to be;
Princesses and mermaids, unicorns and fairies?
We were trapped in a perfect snow globe of serenity,
Cloaked in an ethereal golden haze,
But now it’s dissipated, left its shadow behind.
I want to fly with my faded fairy wings, fly into the boundless sky,
But these bruised and bloodied wings fly no longer.
I want to turn back, back to that elysian wonderland,
And curl up in the palm of those forgotten years.
But now the sun has been eclipsed by time,
Now my eyes are knitted in fog and mist.
Maybe it was just make-believe.
