Innocently, he gave her a bowl of thorns and told her to thrust her hand in,
for at the very bottom, was his love for her—though he failed to mention it.
Then, he plucked a rose from the bleeding sun,
a rose that was draining, melting,
or was it her hands that were bleeding,
turned red with rage or love?
He professed he meant good intentions,
that he spent hours devotedly gathering the finest of roses,
to examine each one and cut off its thorn,
each thorn for her. Was it not enough?
Did he not give up everything he had, for her?
This sign of love, she did not understand.
And that is what came to her fateful end, when she took the rose
and shoved it deep into her stomach.
Now her insides are bleeding, bleeding with love.
