The Monster

I stood, awaiting, by the stage,
where a monster struggled in its cage.
The next performer had a key,
She was scheming to set it free!
As she was about to let it go,
I desperately screamed out "NO!"
But, alas, I was too late: the beast's wrath
was set to seal my fate.
I tried to outrun this beastly giant,
But I slammed into a fire hydrant.
As I was about to reach my doom,
I opened my eyes and was in my bedroom.
