Careful creases, ink on paper; tiny vessels, hopeful maker;
dreams give them wings to fly this journey far;
my rough creations soar across the stars.
Through the rain and through the gloom, their goal is set: the glowing moon,
in all her shining silver splendour: her charm, her wit, her strength forever.
How can she hold herself with dignity unbarred?
How does she know beauty still lies in broken scars?
She hears my pain; she speaks to me
a sonnet, heartfelt poetry; a path to her, across the sea;
I know now where I need to be.
Yet standing on the shore, I see
I cannot meet her; bitterly,
I write my truths, I send my plane;
it speaks of hopes and dreams and pain.
Through its journey over time, while I laugh a pantomime...
Perhaps one day, upon a shooting star, she’ll read my words and know that I’m not far.
