Grimy shackles tug at
scrawny, raw-boned ankles
scraping away trickles of yearning
clawing away
at a forgotten daydream
buried beneath rotting
bodies laying unhinged and corroded
stitched and hurled
Blood-curdling howls are rampant
the murky spit of desperation
lay on my back
written amongst deeply penetrated crinkles
flaxen-stained teeth unfold a heinous grin
a clunk as dampness flows, like riverbeds
the tinge of our Eritrean blood
gleaming, tangible, leaking
into a forgotten daydream.
