Let Her Rest

she sits, unmoving,
dormant throughout our lives.
she lies, sleeping,
the dust tumbling as she cries.
her dark ruby skin is her biggest beauty,
as is her shape,
but as people clamber up her,
they change her landscape.
she is no longer lying in grass,
but now garbage and bottles.
we may change the world, but not her land,
she is heavenly and divine so give her a hand.
let her sit, unmoving,
dormant throughout our lives.
let her rest, knowing,
she doesn’t have to open her eyes.
