Excellence Award in the 'Summertime Fun ONLINE' competition

A certain fitting bitterness chills the air
I just crouch against the door
I truly could stand to close the window, but I mustn’t
For I must instead sit, clutching my knees
guarding the door
I must guard it from their fury instilled face
From the way their shock turned to rage
Rage at their actions alone
Not me
Not their own self
But from what they did
I must hide from their light dimming voice
I need to protect from their far too strong fists
A certain, far too fitting bitterness chills the air
With no fists, no voice or face to challenge with
I just…crouch against the door
