Trust Is A Fragile Thing (and Mine Is Broken)

Like an ancient mountain, I stood solitary - strong,
I was determined to ride solo, until you came along.
I wanted to keep my walls up but you slowly broke them down,
I guess I was never good at holding my ground.
And now we’re ‘besties’, ’sisters’, ‘friends for life’
I don’t think I could live without you, even if I tried.
I let myself be distracted, by all the fun and games,
I forget about the other ‘besties’, all the times I was betrayed.
One loved me one minute, and was sick of me the next,
One got ripped away from me and now she is a mess.
One was my soul sister, secret keeper, ride or die,
And then turned on me - snap! To get high on boys and life.
And so, I find myself here, questioning it still,
Even after all the needs of mine you’ve perfectly fulfilled.
When the scars of all their final words, remain like tattoos,
I can’t help but wonder - can I even trust you?
