Saying goodbye to a friend

I got the news, you’re going away,
I’d always thought you’d be here to stay.
You picked me up when I was down,
And replaced a smile for my frown.
Sleepovers, laughing, swimming, and more,
Smiling all the time, like playing on the shore.
Trips to the park, giggling with glee,
These are the precious moments I keep close to me.
I wish you didn’t have to go, but now that you do,
I’ll cry because I miss you, but smile just for you.
Please don’t forget me, I won’t forget you,
We’ll be friends forever, it just takes two.
