Ode to a pen

Do not take my pens away
If you wish to borrow them
Keep them where they belong
On my desk

They feel misplaced and alone
When they are not at home
In their pen and pencil holder
On my desk

I am lost without them too
Unable to make notes or put down answers
When they are not in their place
On my desk

So if you need a pen
To write something on paper
Then please have a look
On someone else’s desk
