The effect of one lonely smile

She stands alone in the center of a green, dewy meadow,
And though she looks as if she just ran miles,
And though she knows no one will see her to know,
She smiles.
Years fall away,
Leaving the beautiful underlying glow,
It looks as if her soul flew up into the sun’s bright ray,
That smile was such a show.
Tiredness leaves her face,
She feels light and free,
She runs through the meadow at a flying pace,
Oh, it was such a wonderful, once in a lifetime thing to see.
