I wake up each morning as the rooster cries,
And sit near the porch where the mockingbird flies.
Then I go out to the field and pick a berry,
And feed it to the dog,
Who’s named Sherry.
Then I go to the lake where Papa fishes,
If he catches something,
Mama serves it on dishes
Next I go next door to find Mary Su,
And when she comes out we play skip-to-my-lu.
Then we go the lake and we dive in,
That’s where Uncle Bob’s giving the hedge a trim
And when I go home,
It is time for bed.
I crawl under the covers,
And lay down my head.
