A DISTANT PLACE
This is a place where temptations fail,
Respect reigns and ego trails.
It is a place where I can be free,
No need to support a false identity.
It is a place where I have pride as well,
In negation I do not dwell.
This is a place where there is no stranger,
No need for protection, there is no danger.
It is a place where a hand you may lend,
To guide a foreigner or a friend.
It is a place of no black or white,
A dove with a crow in perfect flight.
This is a place where clear is the air,
The weather is calm and nature is fair.
It is a place where the birds all sing,
Sun shining through trees, water glistening.
It is a place where the forests stand tall,
Elephants march with the ants that crawl.
This is a place where I cannot deny,
That love and compassion are in ample supply.
It is a place where we accept life as it is,
His word, our journey we cannot dismiss.
But right now it’s a place where justice, it seems,
Is simply a wish, a hope, a dream.
