2nd in the 'Believe It Or Not 2001' competition
My dog seeks the sun in winter,
Legs spread wide to gather warmth.
A mammal turned reptile,
Canis reptilius.
She acts like a sook,
When the meter man calls.
“How’s my old girl? Miss me?”
A different story for the tasty plumber.
“Killer,” he calls her.
One moment she’s prowling the chicken run,
A Mastermind Egg Thief.
The next,
She’s a feeble-minded pet fighting senility.
Her legs are springs to kid-blown bubbles,
But of late a stroke has left her a pill-popping cripple.
My dog is two dogs in one.
