2nd in the 'Watch Out! 2000' competition
Gold is the sun that rules the sky,
Pearls are the clouds that hover nearby.
Emeralds are the threes that cover the land,
Turquoise is the sea that meets the sand.
Rubies come from fire’s soft glow.
Crystals are winter’s white cold snow.
Sapphire’s the sky on a starlit night,
Silver’s the moon that shines so bright.
Diamonds can be seen in morning dew,
Opal’s the sky that looks brand new.
Amethyst can be seen rarely at dusk,
But the greatest treasure is all of us.
