If people could see the real me
Instead of just seein' right through
I wish they would stop tryin' to change me
Because they want me to be like you.
If they hadn't have hurt me that night
If they had just left me alone
If they hadn't have started that fight
I would have been able to walk myself home.
If I didn't have you by my side
I wouldn't be standing here now
Now you're a special part of my life
To change all that happened, I wish I knew how.
But now we have all moved on
And fight for my rights I can
This I have known all along
That no one can change who I am.
