The Fallen ANZAC

I witnessed the waves of men
Wave after wave that were ploughed down by Johnny Turk.
The sound of machine guns rang through my ears,
As I sat in my trench, shivering with fear.
I was scared but I knew I had to do it.
I had to do it for my mates,
My mates that served me so well,
I had to do it even if I fell.
I went down with pride,
And I went down with dignity.
I knew in my heart that it was right,
I did not go down without a fight.
I am an ANZAC, you MUST remember me,
Not as a coward.
I fought until the very end.
After all… I am an ANZAC, I did my country proud.
