Walking around the heart of Canberra,
Makes me think of the Southern lights so pretty is this city.
Wishing that I could take the time to watch the grass grow,
Disagreeing with Kevin Rudd I say NO!
Visiting the War Memorial with pictures of their graves
Including the Role Of Honour, a list of famous names
Placing a blood stained poppy in the wall of fame.
The Germans are to blame for this cursed devastation of war.
Learning how to vote is the law it still stands
To enrol you must be seventeen so the government demands.
Apples, Bananas, oranges and peaches
Sharing each other’s opinions and the show of old time features.
We’ve all got the fevers of Canberra’s main attractions
When you’ve got it I catch it,
When I’ve got it you snatch it.
It’s better for us to be apart from this patch of delight!
