Letter To Love

If I wrote a letter to love,
I don’t know what I would say.
That it cuts and wounds the heart,
Or keeps loneliness at bay?
Love is rough velvet,
It wraps you from head to toe,
It makes you devoted, yet vulnerable,
And makes you feel things you cannot show.
I would tell it, it makes me see,
In colour not black and white.
That I’ve never heard a song so sweet,
Or emotions that burn so bright.
I would tell love I despise it,
For making me become so blind,
For completely breaking my heart,
Or utterly infecting mind.
Love hits you like a bang,
And is vivid like a flower,
With soft petals and sharp thorns,
But love has crushing power.
If I wrote a letter to love,
I don’t know what I would say.
Only the man I achingly loved,
Never once looked twice my way.
