Anxiety is within,
Joy awaits
the thought of happiness calming.
The clock ticks by.
He’s coming home today.
The conflict is solved,
both countries at peace.
The ship is coming to shore
Crowds assemble at the platform.
The ship fills the horizon,
Coming closer, closer,
Pulling my love into the coast.
The ships crew is disembarking.
From the blood stained deck.
The shore is ecstatic,
tears flood the deck
Life begins again today,
As life has left the ship.
So where is my love?
Panic roars in my stomach
The crowd sees me alone,
they look with bitter remorse.
The captain looks at me guilt-ridden
And arrives with horrific news
My life ends today,
love has vanished .
I still have hope
When I shouldn’t.
I stare at the silent ship,
day in day out.
Wishing my love will arise,
day in day out
He never does.
Just sinks into the battlefield,
rotting with no justice.
Black deepens my life
Widowed love that never ends,
It aches and throbs forever.
Feelings that will no depart
Letters don’t fill an empty heart.
