A Day I Would Remember

A Day I Would Remember

It was a sunny day and I had won an award.
It was an award I wanted to win and I finally did.
I was so proud to have won it.
It was a day I would remember.

Then it all changed.
My dog was asleep in the sun on guard duty over me
while I played in the garden.
It was a day I would remember.

It was then that my life changed forever.
It happened in a split second.
Silently, almost in slow motion.
It was a day I would remember.

She didn’t make a sound.
I just looked at her.
She died.
It was a day I would always remember.
