Once Upon a Time
Once upon a time the leaves sang a gentle song,
And the birdcalls made the harmony and the tune.
Once upon a time the sea would shift and sway,
While radiating in the power of the moon.
Once upon a time the animals went as they pleased,
And flourished in the light of each new day.
And once upon a time when the land would turn to dark,
The creatures of the night came out to play.
But nowadays the trees are gone,
And there are no leaves to sing.
And where once the sea was beautiful,
There is nothing but rot and stink.
Where once the birds sang their morning melody,
There are only feathers on the asphalt.
And wherever man has walked,
His presence can be clearly felt.
In our once upon a time the animals no longer come,
And are gradually disappearing every day.
And the places that we touch will never be the same,
And will eventually, forever fade away.
