Death Can't Do Us Part

Another day of work, another day with no reason to continue
Sure, he is successful at work, but his success in life stops there
His eyes are depthless pools of sorrow
To stare into them is to feel as if you had witnessed a thousand deaths
His suits are creased and unwashed, as if he had been wearing them his whole life
To him, he might as well
His scent is drenched in her perfume, her scent, so familiar
He can't let go, but he has so little to hold on to
Time fades memories, but not his pain
He isolates himself, his life is crumpling away
He still has his job, but does he really want it?
Does he really need it?
Every Sunday afternoon he visits her
He brings a picnic basket, but he barely tastes what he brings
His thoughts asphyxiate him with memories of her
He feels as if gravity isn't enough to hold him to the Earth
His spirit feels a pull of a million angels towards the sky
But he knows it is only coming from one
His beautiful angel
To touch her warm gentle face once more It would feel like heaven.
