Global warming struck a fatal blow,
Mother Earth, begging, on her knees,
There was no respite from the searing heat,
No shower of rain, no cooling breeze.
T'was a fight for Mother Earth,
A war, a battle, for one and all.
Ignorant and naive we mostly were,
We turned our backs, both great and small.
The enlightened ones, the ones who knew,
Fought valiantly; great soldiers they all were,
But one by one, their flames died out,
Quenched by innumerable poisonous spurs.
Earth was buried under layers of dust,
Of civilisation that was, there was no trace,
Homo Sapiens had finally paid their price,
Earth was a shell, spinning through space.
