A Deadly Fight

In the mist of the night, it waits prowling in the darkness.
Its eager red eyes locked onto mine.
With sharp claws and bloody teeth, it shows no sign of kindness.
While it whispers a familiar rhyme.
I wait for the beastly thing to fly past, above the illuminated moon.
So I may see its cruelty and lack of mercy clearly when it passes by.
I know that this night will be over very soon.
With anxiousness I wait dimly in the shadows, beneath a tree time ticks away while I give a sigh.
There is a water-serpent that dwells silently among the dunes of hills.
I look upon it and see a reflection of a great hero.
I solider away from the serpent quietly.
I can feel the temperature outside the valley drop to zero.
But with the gigantic dragon breathing its fire.
I am no longer cold with fear, but instead burn with light.
For it to devour me, is its only desire.
And with its tail ready for strike, I am prepared for a deadly fight.
