On The Music Steps

I'm on the music steps,
An anonymous friend
lying at my side,
A leaky pen clutched in her hand,
And in the other, a 'hibernating' iPod,
I watch the ink creep up her ivory skin,
And hear the dead musical silence,
She hums quietly under her breath,
Just loud enough for the two of us,
Our melodramatic poems -
scrawled onto uniform lined paper,
Pealing laughter fills the space between us,
While the occaisional drum beat
startles the silence,
And wakes us up
From our peaceful slumber.
