A Forbidden Love

We met at midnight so no one would see,
It was our little secret just him and me,
We did this nightly, there was a pull, we couldn't be apart
But our parents said no to this love, it broke my heart,
There was something hidden in our misery,
When my man had to leave, he and I wished to be free,
It was unfair when he gave me that last and final kiss,
His love for me was something I would so dearly miss,
Then he turned, torn in half was the turtle dove,
But deep down we both knew it was a forbidden love.
