Just A Dream?

As I came to the outskirts of old Beechworth Town
The sky grew dark so I settled down.
I threw some logs onto the fire,
And angry flames rose higher and higher.
The smoke flew, and bent, and broke,
The wind came round and I coughed and choked.
As I looked up from my gasping and wheezing,
A figure appeared in the smoke, bright and gleaming.
In his hands he held guns. On his chest lay armour.
On his head was a bucket and as I became calmer,
I realised it was Ned, bush ranger and farmer.
I fell to the ground and covered my head...
I heard gun shots and shouting and listened with dread..
As I woke from my strange dreams the darkness had cleared,
And I read the sign, "Ned Kelly finally fell and was captured here."
