Lightning!
My legs feel numb. We’ve been walking down this beach for hours! Suddenly it starts raining down – hard. I’m getting soaked. Big black angry storm clouds roll over the sky, blacking the sky. There’s a gust of wind that nearly knocks me over. A flash of lightning rips across the sky, striking into a wave. There is a tremendous roar as the lightning gets conducted by the water; then suddenly.....There is a rumble and the water sucks away from us like a giant vacuum cleaner sucking up its dirt.
Uh Oh!
“Tidal wave!” screams mum.
“Tsunami!” yells dad.
“Run for your life!” I squeal.
“Whe’re doomed!” whines Libby.
I look around at the deserted beach. Sand. Sand. Sand. And, hang on, a tree! I call to mum in a trembling voice “Mum, climb up the tree”. Mum looks pale and doubtful; because it is a little tree and a GIANT wave.
I feel scared in my heart. I mean, what is an eight year old meant to do?
I look back. The wave is starting to form. Think Alice, think! I wrack my brains, my heart racing. It’s coming.
“Such is life” I say as the wave comes crashing down on me. “Such is life”.
THE END!
