They landed at Gallipoli on the 25th of April 1915,
Men young and old were there to follow a dream,
Thousands landed upon a rocky beach
Not knowing they were within the enemy’s reach
The silence of the guns falling to the ground,
The last few that stand tall and proud
In another place, the guns fell in a poppy field, bright red
To represent the blood of the man that lay dead
The foreign soil became their undignified grave. But still they fought on, courageous and brave
They fought to their very last breath
Today we remember the sadness of their death
But the ANZAC spirit lives on in us all,
Honour, dignity, bravery, as a nation we stand tall
No, the ANZACS death was not in vain
We remember them again and again.
‘We tell with great pride, but also with deep sorrow that our men that went to fight for our tomorrow.
