Tears

When angry tears threaten to ruin your bliss,
There’s a voice that tends to start off like this…
“Hold back those tears of agony dear friend,
If they’re let out they may never end.
Blink back those tears, don’t let them show,
You’re stronger than this, I know that you know.”
But if they start to pour down your cheek,
I’ll do my best to comfort you as you speak.
It’s alright to cry, it helps to let it all out,
If you wanted to, you could scream, you could shout.
It’s times like these that make you feel small,
Furious and sad, unsure of it all.
You can push others, including me away,
I won’t go until I’ve made sure you’re okay.
You were there when I was in despair,
I know I seemed joyful, but my happiness was scarce.
You helped me through my toughest times,
Making me smile and laugh like jubilant chimes.
Now, I want to assist you too,
Guide you through this time of gloom.
Though I’m not an expert on words of comfort,
I’ll do my best to ease what you suffer.
Maybe it’s from a hug or an ecstatic grin,
But I’ll make sure you smile genuinely again.
