Feeling Cold

Sooty looked up at the young girl and sighed softly. He felt sorry the young deep brown haired girl. “Do you know why you don’t have a name?” Sooty asked, hoping that maybe he would get a lead way into this girl. “No sorry… I have no clue…” The young girl said, tears started to form in her blue eyes as she looked down at her bare feet. She could feel Sooty’s eyes on her as she felt the salty tears stream down her face and land softly on her pale skin colored foot. “Don’t cry…” Soot said as he tried to calm her down, it didn’t work. “S-S-Sooty…. Why don’t I have a name!?” The young girl cried out as more of those salty drops, stream down her pale face. “I... I have no idea… Sorry” Sooty said as he looked at her. After a few more minutes of silence, the young girl looked at the raccoon and smiled. “T-Thank you.” The young girl said, “F-For helping me get calm” the young girl said after. The small raccoon smiled on the inside and licked the young girl’s tears away. “It’s okay” Sooty said. “But maybe we might want some food, it will help you get more calm” Sooty said. “Okay!” The young girl said. The young girl and the raccoon went outside and looked for something to eat. The young girl found some berries and the raccoon found some fruit. When they both came back to the house, they looked at what each other found and drooled. “Wow! You found good stuff Sooty!” The young girl congratulated the small raccoon. “Same with you” Sooty said with a slight smile. The young girl smiled and held the door open for Sooty. “You better get in, it’s starting to snow and get really cold.” The young girl said softly to the raccoon. “Thank you, and yes I will. You should too.” Sooty said to the young girl. After both getting in the small hut, they put the fruit and berries down. Then they put some old cloth that they found lying on the ground, over the windows to stop the wind and the snow. They made a fire and sat around the fire while eating the berries and the fruit. The young girl and Sooty finished the food and laid down. The young girl started shivering, her body was freezing from the inside, and the fire was out by a huge gust of wind. Sooty noticed this and felt like he had to protect her and keep her safe and warm, so he got up and laid down next to her. She didn’t stop and this worried the small raccoon. Something caught his eye. Cloth! “Yes!” Sooty said softly. The got all of the cloth and put it over the young girl. Then he snuggled next to her, she soon stopped shivering. A small smile formed on her face. The next morning the young girl got up and saw what Sooty had done for her. She smiled and got up, then she got the rest of the berries and the fruit and made Sooty a breakfast. She looked at Sooty and smiled. She knew she had found a new family… But she was still feeling cold...
