Just One Last Chance

I tried to tell him different
Tried to warn him then
But he just wouldn't listen
Not a thing I said sunk in

He told me to stop worrying
As he brushed me away with his hand
If only he saw what was coming
If only he knew it then

As he slammed that car door shut
I closed my eyes and prayed
Oh please let him get home safely
Let me see him soon enough

Now as I sit beside his bed
IV tubes coming from his neck
I hope he's gonna make it
Just give him one more chance

He didn't really deserve it
He wasn't all that bad
Just a few minor adjustments
Just give him a chance to change

The saddest thing is that I love him
After all the mistakes he makes
I still smile when I see him
And think about him everyday

If he didn't drink and drive
Id declare him outloud - mine
But there are some things we have to get through
Before this adventure is halfway through

His eyes open a fraction
His hand grasped into mine
He gave me the weakest smile
And now I love him even more
