The Enchanted Foresy (draft)

Come with me, I’ll take your hand, 7
We’ll walk in the depths of the forest, 9
Under the swaying trees, at 5.00 o clock, 10
when it is prettiest. 6

The autumn leaves crunch beneath us,
lying on the floor like carpet,
While the blue wren rests on the Japanese Maples,
Whistling at our picnic basket.

We’ll reach a stream, a magnificent sapphire,
Its sound relaxing and calm,
The water pure enough to drink,
And you’ll say, “there’s strawberries near the bank, tom!”

So we’ll put our aching feet in the refreshing water and pick wild strawberries from the bank,
And enjoying their sweet taste,
We’ll hold each others hands,
And look into each others face,

When something flashing catches your eye,
Something sparkling in the water,
A mermaid, we think, with beauty beyond belief,
A sea monster, we think, hiding to slaughter,

But the feeling is quickly gone,
As the sun starts to set,
Casting a golden glow over the land and turns the forest into an enchanted forest,
My dear Claudette.

And as we stroll through the enchanted forest,
The only thing we hear,
Is the calm whispering of the deep Scarlet Oak,
The blue wren heartily whistling without fear,

The stream calmly trickling,
Full of mermaids,
And sea monsters,
And last of all, the vibrant autumn leaves, crackling beneath our feet.
